Grammy award winning, Arooj Aftab announces her first-ever Australian performances in 2024, performing her universally acclaimed album, Vulture Prince. Witness what critics have described as compositions that are "beautiful and tinged with sorrow" - NME.
The Brooklyn-based singer, composer and producer, is bringing her mesmerising live-performance experience to Sydney City Recital Hall on 6 March, Melbourne Recital Centre on 8 March, and WOMADelaide from 9-10 March.
Emerging in the last few years as one of the most innovative composers and vocalists of our time, Aftab is a true visionary, whose architectural compositions draw on a deep well of musical influences – blending jazz, folk, minimalism, electronic and poetry.
In 2021, Aftab’s breakthrough album Vulture Prince brought both her voice and music a lot of attention, including a Grammy for Best Global Music Performance, and President Barack Obama including her single Mohabbat on his official 2021 Summer Playlist.
Aftab’s spellbinding and visual performance style has earned her a place on the New York Times’ best concerts list, and appearances at Coachella, Primavera Sound and Glastonbury.
