“The richness and diversity of Australian culture is the most notable feature of WOMADelaide 2022”
WOMADelaide 2022 made a welcome return to Botanic Park, simultaneously celebrating thirty years of operation and spearheading the return of large-scale outdoor festivals to Australia.
A genuine party atmosphere took over audiences with over 650 artists once again converging onto WOMADelaide’s seven stages across the four days of the festival, culminating in an unforgettable Monday night set by Paul Kelly to close the Foundation Stage, thirty years after he first appeared at the inaugural event in 1992.
Dancenorth’s ‘Noise’ captivated crowds nightly to the rhythm of 100 percussionists, Joseph Tawadros delivered his beautiful concerto for oud with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, while Electric Fields accompanied by special guests Antara singers and Tjarutja First Nations Dance Collective delivered an extraordinarily powerful show. Adelaide producer Motez debuted a spectacular new live show and The Cat Empire played to a huge crowd in their final performance as the original lineup.
