20 years of WOMADelaide!

Highlights: Nile Rodgers and CHIC, with about 50 people on stage for the finale. Youssou N’Dour was unable to perform because he was running for President in Senegal – deferring the visit to 2015. Baaba Maal stepped in and the program also featured Johnny Clegg, Gurrumul returned for his second show at WOMADelaide, Penguin Café Orchestra, Staff Benda Bilili, Dirty Three, First Aid Kit, the return of the Master Drummers of Burundi, Two Pianos Canto Ostinato by Simeon Ten Holt (performed by Elizabeth Drake and Caroline Almonte) was two grand pianos facing each other on the grass in the open air by, surrounded by rapt audiences.

WOMADelaide remains one of my favourite festivals not only for that reason but for the simple fact that it genuinely feels like a celebration of our global community, a world party in a beautiful location…what more u want?
